Diet Essentials to Boost Skin Health

Diet Essentials to Boost Skin Health
While external pollutants have a huge effect on acne and wrinkles, the key to healthy skin starts from the inside out. Hit the grocery store and load up on these skin-boosting foods.
Vitamin C
Not only is Vitamin C a fabulous ingredient in skincare products, it is also a great addition to your diet for radiant, glowy skin. Fruits like oranges, grapefruits, blueberries and strawberries are antioxidants perfect for stimulating collagen to keep skin plump and youthful looking. Toss together a kale-based salad topped with brussel sprouts, broccoli and bell peppers for a vitamin C loaded meal.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Omega-3 fatty acids are game changers for battling inflammation that can lead to acne prone skin. Fish like salmon, herring and tuna are jam packed with acids that reduce damage of UV radiation and irritation in the skin. For plant-based options, add some flax or chia seeds into your favorite smoothie or baked good for an extra dose of omega-3s.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a dermatologist-favorite ingredient for slowing skin aging, preventing sun damage and improving the look of wrinkles. Stocking up on avocado, almonds, sunflower seeds and hazelnuts are great ways to add Vitamin E in your diet. Simply adding half an avocado to a meal can significantly increase the Vitamin E in your system.
Water
When in doubt, always hydrate. Increasing your water intake to at least eight full glasses of water a day combats tight, dry skin and ensures your pores retain moisture. Water is also crucial for increasing blood flow to the skin and flushing toxins out of your digestive system, which can improve our complexion and even out skin tone. For an extra skin health pick-me-up, green tea has rich antioxidants that bring oxygen and nutrients to skin cells to improve elasticity and hydration.
